Cheryl Mayberry McKissack is a highly respected board leader and seasoned executive with a 25-year track record of driving corporate governance, strategic turnarounds, and digital transformation for global enterprises. As President and Co-Owner of Black Opal LLC, she leads a global cosmetics and skincare company that is home to two of the most iconic cosmetic brands for women of color: Black Opal and Fashion Fair Cosmetics.
Her extensive board experience is highlighted by her role as the Non-Executive Chair of the Board for Deluxe Corporation (NYSE: DLX), a position she was appointed to in 2019. Her leadership is significant in that she is among a select group of women to lead a Fortune 1000 company as a non-executive chair. Her leadership has been widely recognized, including being named a 2021 “Outstanding Director” by the Financial Times.
For over two decades, she has been a hands-on governance professional, having served on all key board committees, including Audit, Compensation, Finance, and Governance. She has provided vital advice and counsel to boards across various industries, guiding them through extensive debt reduction, strategic transformation, multiple M&A transactions, and the outright sale or merger of entities.
