DX Live: Small Business Day

National Small Business Week began more than 50 years ago as a way to celebrate the contributions of small business owners across the nation. Although it's been cancelled this year due to COVID-19, there’s still reason to celebrate the more than 30 million small businesses dotting our national landscape. Whether your business is temporarily closed or you’re working in a revised way, plan to join Deluxe’s virtual Small Business Week event, DX Live: Small Business Day

With sessions covering everything from finance to employee well-being, this event is a way to celebrate small businesses, especially now. Join industry leaders and Deluxe sponsors on Tuesday, May 12, to:

  • Be inspired. Amanda Brinkman, chief brand and communications officer at Deluxe will leave you feeling empowered and ready to adapt and react to the changing business environment.
  • Engage with experts. Industry leaders and small business owners will host live, interactive breakout sessions and provide actionable insight.
  • Build your community. A virtual happy hour and yoga session will connect you with other small business owners.

Get a glimpse into some of the topics and insights being covered throughout the event. The day will be broken up into four breakout sessions with different tracks including:

  • Managing risk
  • Helping employees
  • Keep making money
  • Paying and getting paid
  • Caring for your customers

Managing risk

In a panel discussion, join leadership members from Deluxe partner, Sontiq, to learn about managing risk. Learn best practices, tips, resources, and technologies that can help safeguard both your business and your employees from today’s hackers and scammers. As an added bonus for session attendees, everyone will receive a 90-day free trial of Sontiq’s Small Business Suite, a unique solution that provides essential identity theft protection and mobile cybersecurity services, enabling companies to focus more time and attention on building capital, expanding their customer base, and creating customers for life.

Helping employees

To help foster compassion and resilience for you and your employees, Andrea Kroska and Sarah Winkleman, Deluxe human resources professionals, will share tips and tricks to reduce stress during times of isolation and uncertainty. Each will share ways for small business owners to use these methods to help employees cope and even how to stay connected during time spent at home.

Keep making money

Join three restauranteurs, including the CEO of Pizza Luce, JJ Haywood, to learn about hospitality in the age of uncertainty. The restaurant industry has been turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic and restaurant owners are faced with the challenges of shifting operating models, moving sales online and managing staffing levels while balancing the budget.  Learn what restaurants can do now to adjust to the current climate and develop plans for recovery.

For more insights on making money, Deluxe experts will host sessions about ecommerce success and how businesses can survive and thrive in the new economic climate.

Paying and getting paid

In a virtual session, Brian Pfeifer and Ashlee Allen, Deluxe marketing services leaders, focus on what a business owner can control, how to successfully emerge from the pandemic and the new digital tools that can help you move forward once business reopens.

Also, in the spirit of getting paid, Holly Wade, Director of Research and Policy Analysis at the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), leads a discussion on the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan small business loan programs. She’ll cover a brief overview of each, their current state of operations, and what you need to know about PPP loan forgiveness terms and conditions.

Caring for your customers

Join Amanda Brinkman, Chief Brand Officer at Deluxe and host of the Small Business Revolution series, as she moderates a panel of small business owners. Gain insight into fellow business owners’ most urgent financial, operational and marketing challenges. Also shed light on where they’ve found new growth opportunities and how they’ve shown support in their communities during this time of need.

After a virtual day full of expert insights and knowledge, connect with others in the Deluxe business community while networking at a virtual happy hour and then relax and de-stress with a yoga session. Even during times of uncertainty, it is important to stick together and find a path forward. For more information about the DX Live event and how to register, click here.
