In our inaugural season, we received 10,000 nominations for towns in all 50 states. We narrowed it to two finalists, and the public cast 180,000 votes, naming Wabash, Indiana, the winner.
We rolled up our sleeves, dug into the town’s needs, and captured the transformation in Season 1. Eight inspiring episodes illustrate how small businesses and town leaders came together to overcome challenges and build a better future – and each episode includes powerful lessons for small businesses and communities across America.

The public cast votes during a week-long voting period, naming Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania, the winner. What’s next? Our team will roll up our sleeves, meet with the town’s leaders and small business owners, and get to work on the transformation. MEET THE WINNER
January 2016: Season 1 call for nominations
In January 2016, Deluxe introduced the Small Business Revolution – Main Street project with a call for nominations, asking people to nominate special small towns that could use some support. People from coast to coast saw the potential impact of a $500,000 boost, and Deluxe received nearly 10,000 nominations across all 50 states. This video kicked off the call for nominations.
May 3, 2016: Season 1 finalists announced and voting begins
Deluxe Corporation and celebrity entrepreneur Robert Herjavec narrowed the nominations to two incredible towns – Wabash, Indiana, and Silverton, Oregon. The finalists were announced during National Small Business Week in early May, and voting began. Residents and businesses in both towns worked tirelessly to campaign for votes – contacting elected officials and celebrities to help spread the word, hosting voting parties, and even bending “no cell phones” rules in area schools to allow students to cast votes!
May 12, 2016: we have our first winner!
During the week-long public vote, hundreds of thousands of people visited SmallBusinessRevolution.org to learn about these two towns and cast a vote for their favorite. We tallied more than 180,000 votes, but despite the huge number of votes, the race was neck-and-neck the entire time – keeping everyone in suspense until the very end. Ultimately, Wabash squeaked past Silverton for the win. Hundreds of Wabash residents gathered in a theater to hear the results announcement, and the crowd’s reaction – documented in this TV news story – tugged at our heartstrings.
Sept. 27, 2016: Season 1 premieres, and Season 2 nominations roll in
The Deluxe team spent the summer in Wabash putting the $500,000 revitalization to work for the community. The transformation was captured in an original eight-episode series telling the story of the inspiring people we met and the challenges they faced – with insights and lessons we hope will help other small business owners facing similar challenges.
In addition to debuting Season 1, we opened our second call for nominations, officially starting our search for the winner of our next $500,000 revitalization.
Nov. 15, 2016: Season 2 short list revealed
After receiving an astonishing 14,000 nominations – even surpassing our Season 1 total – we rolled up our sleeves and combed through each and every one. Following that challenging task, we narrowed the pool to a short list of eight incredible towns: Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania; Frostburg, Maryland; Georgetown, South Carolina; Kingsburg, California; Marietta, Ohio; North Adams, Massachusetts; Red Wing, Minnesota; Woodland Park, Colorado. (The video to the right shows the highly-anticipated announcement.) Then we set out to learn more about each one and determine our official finalists.
Feb. 9, 2017: Finalists announced
Deluxe Corporation and celebrity entrepreneur Robert Herjavec narrowed the nominations to five amazing towns – Kingsburg, California; Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania; North Adams, Massachusetts; Red Wing, Minnesota; Georgetown, South Carolina.
