Story #67Meehle LawAltamonte Springs, FL

They’re the innovators. They’re the ones who are driving our culture, our economy. They’re my heroes.

Suzanne Meehle is a self-proclaimed small business addict. The owner of The Meehle Law Firm started her first business at age 15, offering a babysitting service at a local bowling alley. In 2011, she founded Meehle Law with the purpose of serving fellow small business owners, helping them through all aspects of starting up and maintaining their businesses with advice, planning, property law, exit strategies, and more. True to form, she is also starting two new businesses on the side.

While working at a law firm for a brief period of time after graduating law school, Meehle found that there was a need among small business owners for a law firm that would provide them with a flat rate for handling their work. Fees were typically based on the number of hours an attorney worked, so their only incentive was to work more hours, not to be more efficient. “No one was targeting the needs of small business owners,” says Meehle. “That was my light bulb moment.”

Meehle’s passion for entrepreneurs comes from her belief that they are the engine of the economy. “Every business starts out as a small business,” she says. “They have to grow from something. So these are the seeds. This is where our economy starts.”

For Meehle, the happiest moment was when she moved into her office on the third floor of a little Victorian house in Altamonte, Fla. “I used to drive past this building and say that one of these days I’ll have an office in there.”

In the future, helping one of her clients grow to the point that they want to hire her in-house would be an ideal situation. But, she jokes, “they’d have to be able to put up with me opening up other businesses on the side, because I can’t seem to stop.”
